Do I have a list that is pretty much beyond possible to complete before the end of 2017? Have I already gone above and beyond my 2017 Reading Challenge already? Am I gonna add a big list of F/F books to my 2017 TBR because SapphicAThon is just around the corner?
OF FREAKING COURSE I AM!
If you haven’t checked out the guys running @wlwreathon you should for sure check it out. Because for 2 weeks, starting at 12am 14th December, they are hosting SapphicAThon – a readathon with just 1 rule:
Read f/f romances that involves the main character
You can head over to Cats and Paperbacks, one of 5 gorgeous hosts, to check out some details including a incredibly helpful rec list and an optional bingo board!
This is my plan of attack at the current time. I’m focusing on YA books (bc I love me some YA) and while some of these books overlap categories I’ve listed them as I will be using them for the bingo board. This list will most likely change as I am relying on library availability for this challenge*.
*Because with xmas around the corner I should limit the destruction of my wallet and bookshelf.
There’s also a 110% I won’t get to all these books.
Note(1): At this time I’m not aiming to get a bingo, but rather just complete the challenges as a way of broadening my reading throughout the challenge! It’s completely up to you how you approach this readathon though.
Note(2): You’ll notice there is a lot of overlap with C&PB’s rec list – this is because I used her list as a foundation and then expanded and checked out what my library had available.
Ramona Blue by Julie Murphy*
*I made a mistake because Ramona Blue doesn’t actually have any F/F romance despite the MC being bi. Thank you to Tasha @Cats and Paperbacks for fixing me up a bit!
Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde
Ash by Malinda Lo
Under 500 Goodreads ratings:
Roller Girl by Vanessa North
Sovereign by April Daniels*
*Might switch to this one if I like the first book (Dreadnought)!
Queer woman of colour:
Otherbound by Corinne Duyvis
Ace spectrum MC:
We Awaken by Calista Lynne
Friends to lovers trope:
Moon at Nine by Deborah Ellis
Sovereign by April Daniels
Non coming out story:
How to Make a Wish by Ashley Blake
Hate to love trope:
Against Doctor’s Orders by Radclyffe
Both women of colour:
Huntress by Malinda Lo
The Drowning Girl by Caitlen Kierman
Girls Made of Snow and Glass by Melissa Bashardoust
*I’ve already read it this year but I also super rec The Mermaid’s Daughter for this one!
Interracial F/F relationship:
Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour
MC realizes they are queer:
Annie on my Mind by Nancy Garden
Are you participating in SapphicAThon? Have you read any of these books? Or do you have some other F/F YA recs that I should check out? Particularly the categories I couldn’t find available books for? Let me know!
